Tom Tom released the TomTom 920 in 2007 to replace the TomTom 910 model. It is seen as the flagship model of the high quality Tom Tom GPS systems.
Some of the innovative features offered by the TomTom 920
Map Share technology : Even though it comes pre-installed with a full set of maps of both the United States and Canada, as well as seamless maps of 41 Western and Central European countries, it allows users to make changes to maps and share those changes with other Tom Tom users. This also means that you can add your own Points of Interest (POIs). You can therefore also purchase lists of POIs from from vendors or visit forums operated by TomTom enthusiasts that will provide POI lists for free.
Voice recognition : Using this technology users can simply say the address to which they want to drive and the TomTom 920 will automatically calculate the route. It also has multi-point destination planning, giving you several options to choose from. You can also search for addresses by ZIP code, which some of its closest competitors (such as the Garmin Nuvi 660 doesn’t have.
Feature rich : The TomTom 920 is probably the most feature rich of its class, with more built in functionality than its competitors. This does make it more complex to learn to use though, so be prepared to spend time on getting to know its menu system. Additional functionality offered include : Text to Speech, MP3 player, FM transmitter, Blue Tooth, changing the keyboard from ABC to QWERTY, up-to-date traffic information via the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver (although the traffic receiver is sold as a separate accessory for the TomTom 920 model, but is included in the TomTom 920T model), recording your own driving instructions.

- Very feature rich for the price, with more alternatives with regards to mapping and navigation than its competitors
Not so good
- Mounting solution is bad
- Menu system is complex to use
- If you have the FM transmitter activated, and you get a phone call, the phone DOES NOT play the conversation over your car stereo speakers. It mutes the music/navigation, and it turns on the internal speaker on the 920.
Overall opinion
Mixed. Most people compares it dis-favorably with the Garmin Nuvi 660, however, the single reason why you should buy this unit is that it is the only one that comes with the full set of American, Canadian AND European maps pre-loaded
