There are many things to consider when it comes to purchasing a GPS tracking System. Price is of course, as I’ve said before, one of the first things that you will need to look at. But even before you look at the price, you should determine whether the unit is easy to use. It doesn’t make a difference if the unit is cheap or expensive, if you cant figure out how to use it and if its not user friendly, then no matter how much money you spent, you will have just wasted it on something that will be worthless to you..
Operability:
If you’ve used a computer, PDA, mobile phone or other such electronic devices before, you should have no problem using a GPS system. The usability of the GPS system should allow you to do all of the things that you need to do rather easily without any hassles.
You will need to make sure that the unit has a good quality user’s manual in it as well. But don’t just assume that it will be easy to use if you read it. Here are a few steps to consider when trying determining the usability of the unit.
• When purchasing from a retail outlet, make sure that you give the unit some attention. Is it easy to use? Can you do simple things rather easily?
• When you receive the product after purchasing it online, take it out of the box and play with it. Try using it without reading your manual; does it seem easy to navigate?
• Next, take a look at the manual. Is it written well, in good terminology that is easy for you to understand?
Still, the chances of your hunting companion actually taking the time to read your users manual is highly unlikely, so, you definitely want to look at a unit that would be rather easy to use by anyone, including yourself. If you spend a bit more money and get the easy navigation tools that are becoming more and more common to find, you will see that it will benefit you more in the long run.
